If you don’t need to head out into avalanche terrain, don’t. That’s the advice from Avalanche Canada, which is reporting ‘very dangerous avalanche conditions’ throughout the South Columbia region, which includes the north Okanagan, Shuswap and Revelstoke.
Avalanche Canada said he chance of human-triggered avalanches is very likely.
The avalanche danger rating is forecast to remain ‘high’ for Thursday and downgrade to ‘considerable’ by Friday.
In the Kootenay Boundary region, which includes Kelowna south to Osoyoos, the avalanche danger rating is also ‘high’ at higher elevations, but downgraded to ‘considerable’ below treeline levels.
