Students at Good Shepherd Elementary School in Brossard in Montreal’s south shore are giving back for the holidays.
Thursday, the school’s I-Care club kicked off its holiday food drive, in support of Project HOPE.
As part of their annual Christmas concert, students from kindergarten to Grade 6 performed the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol – also known as Scrooge.
Those in attendance were asked to donate non-perishable food items to the I-Care Club’s Holiday Food Drive as an entrance fee.
The goods will go to help less-fortunate families in communities across the south shore, including some who attend the school.
“Our students want to make a difference,” Valerie Forde, Good Shepherd Elementary School principal, said. “Whether it’s a small difference or a large difference.”
Guests were welcomed with WE lights at the entrance of the hall to “light up the world with positivity” and “show everyone that you believe in a better world.”
“They may be young, but they have something to offer their community,” Forde said. “They have a lot to contribute.”
