Although Environment Canada has now ended the snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
They issued the warning early Monday, saying between five to 10 centimetres of snow was expected to fall in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
Some communities have had more, with at least 7 centimetres in Burnaby and 14 centimetres in South Surrey.
The recent snowfall prompted the closure of the Alex Fraser Bridge.
Global BC chopper captured images of ice shards falling from the bridge on a fly-over Monday afternoon.
The Ministry of Transportation says there is an increased likelihood that snow or ice may shed from the cables into all of the travelled lanes. Therefore, as a precaution, the ministry has closed the bridge to traffic.

At this time, it’s not clear how long the bridge will be closed for.

Issues on the roads
The snowfall has caused a number of issues on the roads Monday. A tanker truck went off the road on Highway 1 in Burnaby and shortly after there was a multi-vehicle crash along the same stretch.
No serious injuries were reported.
Highway 1 westbound is very heavy from Abbotsford to Langley, with many vehicles in the ditch around 264 Avenue.
Drivers are reporting issues on the roads throughout the region. People are urged to drive slowly, leave extra time for their commute and leave distance between vehicles.
Environment Canada says drivers should be prepared to adjust their driving with the changing road conditions.
Transit
SkyTrain operating normally – if falling snow affects the tracks, trains may be held a little longer at some stations.
Most buses are operating normally but some delays expected due to snowy road conditions. Check TransLink’s Twitter for constant updates.
Helijet flights are suspended until further notice.
Harbour Air flights are also being affected. Check with the airline before heading out.
What’s to come?
Global BC meteorologist Mark Madryga says colder Arctic air is surging through the province, and will be dominant for the next several days through all parts of B.C.
In the Lower Mainland, the snow that fell overnight will only partly melt today as the temperature struggles to plus 2 or 3 degrees.
Icy conditions will return tonight as the mercury falls to -4 by morning.
Clear and colder weather will hold for a few days, with overnight temperatures in Metro Vancouver expected to drop to as low as -9 by Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The chilly weather will hold into the upcoming weekend.
