WINNIPEG — Annual bus tour takes a shopping twist this holiday season.
Saturday afternoon, Winnipeg’s Social Purchasing Portal hosted their annual Holiday Shopping Bus Tour.
The event started at The Scrap Came Back, traveled to Pollock’s Hardware Co-op, and went over to Neechi Commons.
The purpose of the event was for shoppers to think local this holiday gift-giving season. The bus tour encouraging shoppers to support local inner-city businesses.
“The Shopping Tour shows holiday shoppers where they can buy great gifts and make an impact,” said Josh Derbecker, the Coordinator of the Social Purchasing Portal.
The day wasn’t just about shopping. It also had a giving theme associated with it.
In addition to shopping, the tour also accepted donations for the LITE Alternative Hamper Campaign. It’s a hamper drive that supports jobs in Winnipeg’s inner city, while also providing hampers to those in need.
