Facebook users say their accounts are being memorialized even though they’re alive. The upset users are posting screen grabs of their updated profile pages, telling their social network to “find comfort” and “celebrate” their friends’ lives.

Not even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself was immune to the bug.

The commemorative status is usually used when a person passes away. Their page is then switched to the memorizalized version of their profile.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed that the bug had been fixed.

“For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it,” a spokesperson said in an email.

The bug only seemed to last for a short while, but that didn’t stop people from sharing the experience on Twitter.
