WINNIPEG – Personal health information was taken from a diagnostic imaging office earlier this month, according to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA).
Letters to patients were sent out this week advising them a paper billings file went missing from a locked room in the Health Sciences Centre.
The WRHA believes the file was taken as it was kept in a secured room, and there is no evidence of forced entry.
The locked room is swipe card access only.
Information on the file contained the name, date of birth, type of test, exam name and information specific to the hospital.
In a statement the WRHA said there is no indication that patients need to take any further action to guard their personal health information, but is advising anyone who received a letter about the breach to monitor their financial statements.
