WINNIPEG — The countdown clock continues to tick closer to the 2017 Canada Summer Games, now just nine months away.

Two-time Olympic Bronze medalist Desiree Scott remembers the feeling of competing in the 2005 Canada Games in Regina and hitting the soccer pitch with her fellow Team Manitoba athletes.

Young and fiercely competitive, Scott already had her sights set on making it to the Olympics. On Thursday, she spoke with Eva Kovacs about what the Canada Games experience meant to her and how it gave her a taste of Olympic-like competition.

Don’t wait. That’s the message from Jeff Hnatiuk, president and CEO of the 2017 Canada Summer Games to anyone interested in volunteering at the Games next summer.

Organizers say they’ll need a total of 6,000 volunteers for various roles  during the July 28 – Aug. 13, 2017 event and leading up to the Games.
