Blades, Giants complete trade prior to Saskatoon’s 3-1 win over Vancouver

Mason McCarty scored twice, including once on the power play, as the Saskatoon Blades toppled the Vancouver Giants 3-1 on Wednesday night in Western Hockey League action.

Jesse Shynkaruk had the winner for the Blades (6-3-1), who got 31 saves from Logan Flodell.

Thomas Foster replied for Vancouver (5-8-0), which had a four game winning streak snapped. Ryan Kubic kicked out 29 shots in net.

Prior to the game, the Blades and Giants traded 18-year-old forwards.

Heading to the Blades is Saskatoon product Gage Ramsay, who has one assist in six games this year.

Ramsay played with the Notre Dame Hounds in the SJHL last season, where he picked up 35 points in 46 games.

Heading to the Giants is Josh Bruce. In four game with the Blades this season, Bruce had one goal and four penalty minutes.

The Blades continue their five game road swing through British Columbia on Saturday when they head to Kamloops to take on the  Blazers.
