Damage to a Kelowna home is extensive following a house fire early Thursday.
Kelowna Fire Department says the fire happened shortly before 3 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Elliot Avenue – near Sutherland Avenue.

It says when crews arrived, flames were coming out a side window. They say the lone occupant was cooking and fell asleep.
He woke up to the house filled with smoke and called 911.
The occupant wasn’t seriously injured.
