RCMP police seize eight pounds of marijuana after stopping a car near Grenfell, Sask.

A Calgary man was arrested Wednesday evening after RCMP discovered eight pounds of marijuana and other drugs on the Trans-Canada Highway near Grenfell, Sask.

At 5 p.m. on Sept. 7, police stopped an eastbound car on Highway 1 near Grenfell after an RCMP officer saw a vehicle equipment regulation violation in the car.

Using a narcotic detection dog, Broadview Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan found eight pounds of marijuana, as well as different amounts of OxyContin, hashish and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

Anthony Sanoffsky, 55, is charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance. The court ordered his vehicle to be forfeited after Sanoffsky appeared in Yorkton provincial court Thursday morning.
