The former chief administrative director of the Cherry Brook Zoo in Saint John is taking his former employer to court for wrongful dismissal.
A notice of action and statement of claim has been filed against the zoo and members of the board of trustees. The suit alleges Leonard Collrin and his wife Linda were escorted by police from their home at the zoo on July 6th.

Collrin says that action was unnecessary and only served to humiliate them. The document says the defendants acted maliciously and in bad faith.
It also states Leonard Collrin was given notice that the board had been made aware of “suspected misuse of appropriated funds, potential fraud and theft of money.”
Collrin started working at the zoo in 1978. The suit says his wife Linda was a volunteer and helped administrate the zoo.
Collrin is seeking both general and specific damages but no specific dollar amount was given.
The allegations have yet to be proven in court. Saint John Police have also been asked to investigate.
That investigation is ongoing.
