Nashville Predators defenceman P.K. Subban was back in Montreal Wednesday, nearly one year after making a $10-million pledge to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The superstar announced the fund, called P.K.’s Helping Hand, had raised $1.4 million and touched the lives of more than 9,000 families facing financial hardship because of their child’s illness.
Of the $1.4 million raised, 20 per cent – around $280,000 – came from Subban and his sponsors.
Subban also spoke about about his disappointment at not making Canada’s World Cup hockey team but says it’s out of his control.

The former Montreal Canadiens defenceman said he loves representing his country and that he’s had tremendous success when he’s been given that opportunity.
Subban insists his focus this season won’t be proving to the Canadiens they were wrong to trade him because that would just be a waste of energy.

The Predators acquired Subban on June 29 in exchange for fellow defenceman Shea Weber.
