Roy’s funeral will take place Monday afternoon at the L’Assomption cathedral, also in Trois-Rivieres.

Many Quebec dignitaries have confirmed their presence at Monday’s ceremony, including Premier Philippe Couillard, as well as all the leaders of the opposition.

Former colleague, Mario Dumont, once head of the Action Democratique du Quebec (ADQ), will be speaking at the funeral.

Roy made the jump into provincial politics in 2003 when she was elected in Lotbiniere under the ADQ banner. In 2011, she switched over and joined the ranks of the Coalition Avenir Quebec. In August of last year, she decided to sit as an independent.
