“Cheers” alum Ted Danson and his wife, actress Mary Steenburgen, held hands as they walked onto the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia Thursday night.
Steenburgen introduced herself as a train conductor’s daughter from Arkansas and then went on to tell the crowd, “I have been blessed to call Hillary Clinton one of my closest friends since 1978.”
Steenburgen described her friend as someone “who loves to laugh especially at herself, world class listener, quick to forgive, sensitive, empathetic.”

She then told a story about going over to the Clinton’s home in Arkansas 38 years ago for dessert. Steenburgen said that at one point she looked at Bill Clinton and wished he could become president someday.
Steenburgen said she then looked at her friend Hillary and thought the same thing thought “it seemed too much to dream for.”
“But tonight it seems very, very possible,’ Steenburgen told the crowd.
