There is no shortage of work to be done in Pointe-Claire: roads are being repaved and water pipes are being repaired and replaced.

The $20-million makeover of the road network is the largest in the city’s history.

Pointe-Claire officials said they’re not in a competition to gain bragging rights for the best roads on the West Island.

The city councillor sitting in for the vacationing mayor said he’s copacetic with the repair work done so far.

“We’re doing a good job [on] many many streets when I drive around Pointe-Claire and I see they’ve already been done,” Aldo Iermieri told Global News.

“They look brand new and I feel much better, I feel very proud to be in Pointe-Claire.”

Hymus Boulevard is one of the streets getting the biggest makeover.

The street’s water pipes will be reinforced, the road will be widened and a new sidewalk added to the north side.

All the same, there are still plenty of roads that aren’t being done this year.

For example, Hymus Boulevard, east of Saint-Jean Boulevard, won’t be touched until 2017.

Officials said they are hoping all of their work will mean bumpy rides and potholes will become a thing of the past.
