A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly forcing a woman to perform sex acts at a spa in Toronto and police believe there may be more victims.
Police say the suspect and woman, both of whom did not reside in Canada, met on Facebook in 2013 and started a relationship.
When both of them came to Canada in the spring of 2016, the woman started working at a spa and told by the accused to perform sex acts for clients to earn more money.
The man would also keep surveillance on the woman by telephone even during her work at the spa, police say.
Police say the man would physically assault her if quotas were not met and he would also not allow her into their home.
Ankush Avishek Monebhurrun of Toronto was arrested on July 21 after the woman’s co-workers noticed injuries on her body.
He has been charged with six offences including sexual assault, trafficking in persons, assault, material benefit persons over 18 years and exercising control.
