WINNIPEG — After a week filled with cloud and rain, the weather is finally taking a turn for the better in Winnipeg – just in time for the weekend.

Temperatures will finally hit seasonal (26 C) by the time Saturday hits, with plenty of sun stretching into next week.

Early Friday morning we dipped into the single digits for the first time in awhile. At 6 a.m. Winnipeg was sitting at 9 C.

But don’t expect a break from the air conditioner as we go into next week. Temperatures will reach 30 C or warmer with humidity returning.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

We could see a shower move through the region Saturday night – but it’s back to the sunshine Sunday.

Expect possible storm activity into next week though as conditions could create the perfect formula for those to appear throughout southern Manitoba.

Meanwhile, if you are planning a trip to the U.S., temperatures there next week will be beyond hot.

Forecasters there are predicting soaring temperatures from coast to coast. In places like Las Vegas and Phoenix the mercury could climb to 110 F (43 C).

The only region not likely to feel the heat is the Pacific Northwest.
