A fundraiser will be held in Fredericton on Sunday, July 17 to help the victims of a collision who sustained serious injuries.
Mike and Kendra Burden are still recovering from injuries after a collision between the motorcycle that they were riding and an SUV three weeks ago.
Michael Burden, whose son Mike was the one driving the motorcycle, tells Global News that his daughter-in-law, Kendra, still requires several surgeries. He said Mike had part of his left leg amputated, is still in the Intensive Care Unit and will be there for some time.
“He has a very good amount of leg left for a prosthesis and I can say that that’s healing well. I know it’s hard to kind of grasp the gravity of the injuries, but when an amputated leg is now the least concern of his health issues, it may give you an idea of what he’s still dealing with and facing,” Burden said.

To keep his mind off the tragic situation, Burden said he is investing his energy into planning a benefit to help his son and daughter-in-law with expenses.
Burden tells Global News that he has been overwhelmed by the level of community support as well as donations from individuals, companies and local motorcycle shops. Some of the prizes at the benefit were donated by Rodney Johnsen, owner of Chopper Shop Inc.
“There’s going to be lots of prizes to bid on and raffles and 50/50 draws and all that kind of stuff. We’d like to see as many people up and out as possible,”Johnsen said.
The event is free to the public and anyone wishing to display their motorcycle is asked to show up at 10:30 a.m.
Burden said the event will move indoors to the Brookside Mall if there is rain.
