MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. — Authorities say an undercover Florida detective shot and wounded two burglary suspects as they drove their car at him.
The Miami Herald reports that the shooting occurred Wednesday in Miami Springs.
Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby says the plainclothes detective began observing the men in Hialeah and followed them to Miami Springs, where they reportedly broke into an unoccupied home.
The detective reported that when he tried to stop the men from fleeing, they drove at him. Zogby says the detective opened fire and hit both suspects. They pulled over a few blocks away and were taken into custody. Their wounds weren’t considered life-threatening.
The names of the detective, the suspects and their races weren’t immediately reported. Zogby says the men face charges of home burglary, fleeing police and aggravated assault.
