WINNIPEG – Rain and lightning forced the Winnipeg Blue Bombers indoors on Friday. The club held their final practice of training camp at the Winnipeg Indoor Soccer Complex on the University of Manitoba campus before making another round of cuts.

The Bombers continued to whittle down their roster by cutting five more players. Linebackers’ Frank Renaud and John Rush, defensive lineman Rupert Butcher, receiver Alex Vitt and punter Billy Pavlopoulos were all released.

Renaud, Butcher and Vitt were all selected by the Bombers in the recent CFL Draft. Rush and Pavlopoulos were free agent signings, but the Bombers originally selected Pavlopoulos in the seventh round of the 2013 CFL Draft.

With 70 players still listed on the active roster, the team still has to make several more cuts before Sunday’s final cut down day. All CFL teams must reduce their roster to 46 players by June 19 at 10:59am central time. They can also keep 10 players on the practice roster.
