WEST KELOWNA–The city of West Kelowna is going back to the drawing board on a new city hall project.
The province has denied their request to delay a referendum that would have sought permission to borrow money to pay for the million dollar project.
Voters successfully halted borrowing 10.5 million dollars for the proposed city hall project through the Alternative Approval Process.

That triggered the need to hold a referendum, but the July date was deemed less desireable to the city, prompting a request to the province for an extension into the fall.
The Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development denied the delay, and council held a meeting today and decided to begin the process all over again.
That means coming up with new options to pay for a civic centre in West Kelowna.
The issue will be discussed at the next council meeting on June 14.
