Video posted online shows a woman at a Toronto concert being jump-kicked in the back by the singer of a punk band while taking a selfie on stage.
In the footage Parker Cannon and his band The Story So Far are mid-song Sunday night when the woman pulls herself up and begins taking the picture, apparently unaware of Cannon behind her.
The singer then appears to run at her and jump as he kicks her in the back, sending her tumbling off stage. The crowd at the Mod Club venue then roars.
It’s not the first time Cannon has appeared to kick a photo-taking fan who scrambled on stage. Video from a concert last year in Houston appears to show him booting a shirtless male fan snapping a selfie.
Mod Club manager Jorge Dias told Global News he was “appalled” by the footage and that the Californian band has been banned from the venue over the incident.
“I have never imagined and never seen anything like that at the venue in 14 years in operation. That was a very cowardly act,” he said in an email.
Dias said there were no reported injuries.
The band’s management did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday.
Fan Victoria Martin was at the concert, and said Cannon’s kick didn’t surprise her.
“One of the things they are very vocal about is standing on stage (and) trying to take a selfie while they’re performing.”
“They’re all down for people going on stage and jumping off. I just think she took a bit too long and he’s not very fond of taking pictures while they’re playing,” she said.
The Toronto kick sparked anger online, with fans and others criticizing the singer.
