A B.C. dad and his six-year-old daughter are getting worldwide attention this week for a video they recorded on Valentine’s Day.
Rob Acs and his daughter Averianna love singing together and on Feb. 14 they decided to record a cover version of Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself and post it on Facebook.
Their duet has now been seen more than 500,000 times, been posted on numerous trending Facebook pages, and has been shared around the world.
“The response has been huge!” said mom Ashleigh in an email interview. “Everyone has had such great things to say about it. We never thought it would get this big, it has totally exceeded our expectations.”
Averianna is a huge Justin Bieber fan and learned how to sing Love Yourself on her own before asking her dad to perform it with her.
“Rob has always been a singer and he used to sing to Averianna even when I was pregnant,” said Ashleigh, “then also as a baby to calm her or put her to sleep or just to make her happy. Then as soon as she could talk they started to sing together and have been singing together ever since.”
Now the Surrey family are just enjoying the attention and support Rob and Averianna are getting.
“We are so thrilled that people around the world love it so much and that we can in some way touch other people,” said Ashleigh. “Everyone has had so many nice things to say and we really appreciate everyone’s support.”
