Heading home: Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign RB Andrew Harris

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have persuaded all-star running back Andrew Harris to come home.

The club signed the Winnipegger to a three-year contract on the opening day of CFL free agency. Harris has played his entire six-year career with the BC Lions, racking up 4,259 rushing yards, 2,639 receiving yards and 45 touchdowns. Last year, he led the league in yards from scrimmage and and finished second in rushing yards.

The 28-year-old has also logged 192 overall yards and two touchdowns in five playoff games.

Harris was chosen as the Most Outstanding Canadian in the 2011 Grey Cup after putting up 71 overall yards and a touchdown in BC’s 34-23 win over Winnipeg. Harris was also named a CFL All-Star in 2012 and 2015.

Harris played high school football at Oak Park before joining the CJFL’s Vancouver Islander Raiders.
