WINNIPEG — David Horbas will no longer be a candidate for the Conservative Party in constituency of Selkirk.
The Tories posted a statement on January 29 citing that the party had concerns about his campaign involvement and level of performance.
It added that what led to the party’s decision were “ongoing shortcomings with regards to Mr. Horbas’s participation in the Party’s election preparedness program and campaign planing efforts, and his overall performance as a Candidate since his original nomination in November 2014.”
The statement ends with stating Horba’s continued involvement had become “seriously problematic and not in the best interest of the party.”
A decision to remove Horbas from contention was made by the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba and the Candidate Selection Committee.
PCs now have two constituencies open for nomination, Selkirk and Point Douglas.
Horbas has not commented on the matter.
The Manitoba provincial election is slated for April 19.
