The News Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, the School Days Museum and the much loved Officers Square are all parts of the historic downtown Fredericton landmark known as the Garrison District.

The city has come up with new plans for the tourist site which they’ll unveil at an Open House on Tuesday night.

“We have a plan that’s trying to make this a cohesive, dynamic, four season epicentre for culture and heritage in our community,” Said Mike O’Brien, Chair of the City Development Committee.

“A lot of cities would die to have the facilities that we have here but over the last four or five decades it hasn’t been managed properly.”

Included in the plans are a band shell for outdoor concerts as well as new shops to fill some of the more sparse areas.

O’Brien says they welcome feedback of all kinds and hope residents get involved in the planning.

The open house takes place Tuesday night at the Fredericton Public Library from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
