The spotlight is on, so no funny business for one of Nova Scotia’s favourite furry critters, Shubenacadie Sam.

Sam’s fans are now able to watch the little groundhog in his home live via webcam as he prepares for his big day in the spotlight, Groundhog Day, on Feb. 2.

“Sam is well-loved by groundhog groupies around the world and the online Sam Cam is one of the most popular internet cameras this time of year,” said Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines.

As you can see from Thursday’s tweet, Sam is a bit of a Diva, so if you want to catch him showing off on the “Sam Cam,” there are specific times that work best for him.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

At 8 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. are the times when weather specialist Sam interacts with park staff and gets fed.
