Sask. Party maintains big lead in latest poll

REGINA – Nearly 60 per cent of decided voters say they’d support Brad Wall’s Saskatchewan Party if a provincial election were held today, according to a new survey.

The latest poll from Mainstreet Research and Postmedia pegs support for Cam Broten’s NDP at 28 per cent, followed by the Saskatchewan Liberals at seven per cent.

“The Sask. Party is dominating across the province right now,” said Quito Maggi, president of Mainstreet Research. “Though their best scores come from outside Saskatoon and Regina, where the NDP performs better.”

Just over 41 per cent of voters in the province’s two largest cities said they’d support the Sask. Party, compared to 29 per cent for the NDP. The gap is much larger in the rest of Saskatchewan, with a 38 point spread in favour of the incumbent.

Still, 16 per cent of voters say they haven’t made up their minds on who to support when they cast a ballot on April 4.

On specific issues, the NDP performed slightly better on education and healthcare, while the Sask. Party was strongest on taxes and job creation.
