Kelowna RCMP stop suspected drunk driver in drive-thru

KELOWNA–A late night craving for fast food resulted in a criminal charge for a 25-year-old Kelowna woman.

RCMP spotted a Ford F150 driving erratically along Clement Avenue around 2:40 a.m. this morning.

Police saw the truck narrowly miss three vehicles, and attempted to pull the driver over.

The officer called for back-up, and when the truck pulled into the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant on Harvey Avenue, multiple police vehicles converged.

RCMP say the driver showed obvious signs of impairment and was taken into custody without incident.

“Samples of the driver’s breath were taken, analyzed and determined to be almost three times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood,” says Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.
