CALGARY — A bail application was granted Thursday morning in Calgary for a man charged in the cold case murder of a two-year-old boy.
Ryan Podhorodecki is facing a charge of manslaughter connected with the death of Blake Harvey, who was killed 10 years ago.
Police were told the toddler fell down the stairs in December of 2005, but an autopsy later confirmed his death was a homicide.
Podhorodecki was the common-law boyfriend of Harvey’s mother at the time of the murder.

The accused was transferred to Calgary after being arrested this past October in Victoria, B.C.
The crown did not oppose his release Thursday.
“He’s subject to a daily curfew, no alcohol, no weapons, no contact with the deceased’s mother or her brother,” said defence lawyer, Balfour Der. “He’ll have to report to probation every week. There’s a host of conditions – 18 of them actually.”
The case has been adjourned until mid-January.
