Panel to discuss security issues in wake of Paris attacks

Top security experts from around the world will be in Halifax this week for their first major meeting since the terrorist attacks in Paris.

As part of the 7th annual Halifax International Security Forum, The West Block’s Tom Clark will moderate a special panel discussion entitled “New Canadian Ideas, Same Old World?” on Friday at 2:15 p.m. ET. The panelists are expected to tackle a variety of security-related issues, including the potential aftermath of Paris.

The panelists include:

  • Gen. Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces
  • Harjit Sajjan, Minister of National Defence
  • Gen. John Allen, United States 4-star general and former special presidential envoy to the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL
  • Navy Admiral Bill Gortney, commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) and U.S. Northern Command
  • Dr. Janice Stein, professor of conflict management and founding director at the Munk School of Global Affairs
