Regina woman recounts moments during Paris attacks, Sask. raises French flag

REGINA – A Regina woman now living in Paris to pursue her music career, recounts the moments during and after the deadly attacks in Paris.

It was suppose to be a regular night out for Kyrie Kristmanson who was having dinner with her friends, when the notifications began coming in that there had been a shooting in the city.

“Almost immediately there was several ambulances and police cars that raced past us to get to the site. And we could basically see people in the streets trying to find shelter,” said Krsitmanson.

More of her story in the video above.

Also, Saskatchewan is showing its support to France by erecting the French flag in front of the provincial legislature.

The order came from Premier Brad Wall as a way to show the province’s respect to the French capital of Paris.

As of Saturday, the official death toll across seven known attack sites in Paris stood at 127. Dozens more victims are being treated in hospital, with some in critical condition.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

As a result of the attacks, Wall has released the following statement:

Like all Canadians, I am saddened and angered by the brutal attacks on the people of Paris by radical Islamist terrorists.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the people who were killed and wounded, all of their loved ones and all of the people of France.

Yesterday’s attack was a deadly reminder that there are people in the world who do not share our values and who will stop at nothing in their attempts to impose their twisted, evil ideology through violence, destruction and death.

They must be defeated. There truly is no other option.

I have asked that the flag of France be flown in front of our provincial Legislature and that all of the flags at the Legislature be flown at half staff.

The people of Saskatchewan stand with the people of France and with freedom loving people all over the world against murderous and barbaric radical Islamist terrorism

All flags including the French, Canadian, union jack and Saskatchewan flags are flying at half mast at the legislature.
