WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have parted ways with offensive coordinator Marcel Bellefeuille following a 5-13 season.
The CFL club announced Tuesday morning it wasn’t renewing Bellefeuille’s contract for the 2016 season. Bellefeuille joined the team on August 12, 2013 and was promoted the following week to offensive coordinator.
“I spoke with Marcel this morning and informed him of my decision,” said Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea in a news release. “These conversations are not easy to have but we needed to move in a different direction.”
Winnipeg has won just 14 of 33 games with Bellefeuille as offensive coordinator. The Bombers scored 958 points during that span including a league worst 353 this season.

A new offensive coordinator has not been named. The Bombers say the search for one will begin immediately.
“This has to be someone who can come in and initiate change in our offence and give us a great opportunity to win offensively every week,” said O’Shea. “We feel we have a franchise quarterback and some solid pieces around him. Our offensive staff, led by our new coordinator, will be charged with getting better production from our offensive unit.”
The offensive staff for the 2016 season will be determined by the incoming coordinator and O’Shea.
