Evangelist says Starbucks hates Jesus because it took Christmas off cups

Is the war on Christmas back? Or have some Christians gone too far?

Many online seem to think the latter thanks to American evangelist Joshua Feuerstein and his coffee cup crusade.

“Starbucks wanted to take ‘Christ’ and ‘Christmas’ off of their brand new cups,” the 34-year-old ranted in a Facebook video that’s been viewed over 12 million times since Thursday.

Feuerstein is referring to the coffee chain’s red holiday cups which don’t include the snowflakes, ornaments, reindeer and snowmen of years past.

As people have been quick to point out on social media, none of those symbols really have anything to do with Christmas.

Starbucks explained that this year’s simple design is an invite for customers “to create their own stories with a red cup that mimics a blank canvas.”

Some have taken on the creative challenge.

Feuerstein, meanwhile, thought it would be better to “trick” baristas into writing “Merry Christmas” on his cup by telling them that’s his name.

He challenged “all Americans and Christians around [his] great nation” to do the same. And then, of course, take a selfie.

Countless people have bought into his so-called “movement,” which he’s titled “Merry Christmas Starbucks.”

Many more have remarked how ridiculous it is.

Others assured that there’s still plenty of “Christmas” to be found at Starbucks.

“Ain’t nobody got time for this kind of nonsense,” one self-professed Christian said in a video response.

For example, the billions of people around the world who live on less than $2 a day. Or the millions of children suffering starvation.

Feuerstein is no stranger to stirring up controversy. In September he said, “The Christian Holocaust has officially begun” when a Kentucky clerk was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

He also expressed outrage when a Florida baker refused to bake him a cake that said, “We do not support gay marriage.”
