HALIFAX – Exhibition Park will be sold to the private sector, a release from the government confirms.
The release says that Banc Properties will become the new owner of the exhibition space, which the government had decided to close permanently in July after extensive winter damage.
“We know the park is important to the exhibitors and the public that use it and I’m happy to report that the agreement stipulates continued operation of the Exhibition Park in partnership with the Exposition Managers Society of Nova Scotia,” said Geoff MacLellan, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

Executive director of the Exposition Managers Society of Nova Scotia, Jim Gourlay, said they have been involved through the entire process to ensure the space remains the beloved public show and fair space it has been.
“The needs and wishes of the industry were clearly understood by government and were incorporated into the criteria for the eventual sale of the facility to the private sector,” he said.
The sale includes the Exhibition Park structure and 112 acres of land. The negotiated price for the property is $2.5 million, with the understanding that the new owner will be responsible for the cost of necessary renovation and repairs. That cost is estimated to be about $3 million.
Any future event bookings will be booked through Banc Properties.
