MONTREAL – After a week of rotating protests, teachers are demonstrating again Monday morning.

Over 260 schools will be participating in human chains across the province in the fifth protest organized by the Protect My Public School group.

Protesters will be outside elementary and high schools between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Afterwards, classes will resume as normal.
Teachers insist the government’s contract demands go too far, including increased student-teacher ratios, reduced programs for special-needs children and the implementation of a 40-hour work week.

The government is also seeking a two-year salary freeze and cuts to pension plans.
