Truck stolen with precious keepsakes and photos inside

LETHBRIDGE – A Fort Macleod-area woman is hoping thieves who stole her truck will return treasured momentos of her lost brother, no questions asked.

On Friday morning, Sage Bruder woke to find her truck missing, along with special keepsakes that remind her of her 19-year-old brother, Calahan, who was killed in a tragic car accident near Beaver Mines, Alberta two months ago.

“For someone who as any kind of heart, you would think they would see I have gone through enough heartache in the last few months,” said Bruder. “I would hope they would see my stuff and leave it for someone to find.”

Bruder’s Dodge truck was taken from outside her rural home near Fort Macleod.

Pictures of the siblings, along with a special pendant and other keepsakes from Calahan’s funeral, were all in her back seat.

“I had keepsakes made with his fingerprint on it,” Bruder said.

She admits she did leave her keys in the truck, adding that’s no reason for someone to steal.

“Everyone I know around here leaves their keys inside their vehicles — no one thinks anything of it,” Bruder said.

Bruder said she feels violated and doesn’t even care if the truck is found.

She is hoping the thieves will return her treasured belongings.

“At this point I just want my stuff back,” she said.  “I would pretty much do anything to get it back.”

The Dodge truck had a blue decal sticker on the back window that reads, ‘Riding with Calahan’.
