CALGARY- Some fans in Calgary have unexpectedly come down with Blue Jays fever. They were found recovering at local sports bars Thursday afternoon.
Not everyone is playing hooky: Paul Boorman got his boss’s blessing to watch the game.
“Thanks Keith. Thanks for giving me the day off,” laughed Boorman. He’s been a Blue Jays fan ever since he was a little kid, playing ball himself.
Others admit they’re jumping on the bandwagon, coming up with all sorts of excuses to skip out on work.
“I said I was going to the gym,” said one fan, who has asked not to be identified-for obvious reasons.
At least one bandwagon fan used some strategy to watch the game, convincing his boss to go for a drink.
“The best way to get him out for a beer is to tell him you’re buying. So he was here,” said Trent Boehm.
Lucky for him, his boss decided to take one for the team and join the party.
Game 2 is set for Friday at 10:45 a.m. MT.
