Family fun brewing at Montreal Botanical Gardens

MONTREAL – There’s a definite chill in the air but nothing spells fall like the Great Pumpkin Ball at the Botanical Gardens.

The ever popular event has been entertaining families for 30 years now and this year’s ball won’t disappoint.

The ball features over 800 pumpkins, decorated by  children in schools across Quebec, according to a specific theme. This year’s theme is “urban agriculture of the future.”

As always, children can visit Esmeralda the witch as she and her cat Abracadabra, watch over the pumpkins.

Just outside the greenhouse is a courtyard for little monsters to stretch their legs and test their hand at various games of skill.

Visitors are invited to discover squashes and gourds in a kaleidoscope of colours and shapes, and familiarize themselves with the garden’s 80 different species of Cucurbita.
