“Bionic model” Rebekah Marine took to the runway during the FTL Moda show at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, proudly wearing her i-limb quantum prosthetic hand.

The show marked Marine’s second NYFW catwalk of the year – a monumental moment for the model, who once thought her disability would prevent her from making it in the fashion industry.

Marine was born without a right forearm, but dreamt of being a model from a young age. After being told repeatedly her disability would prevent her from chasing her dreams, she went to school to pursue a career.

But, after being fit with a prosthetic four years ago, she decided to chase her dream.

“What an incredible experience! @ftlmoda show was a huge success,” Marine wrote on her Instagram page, thanking her sponsor Touch Bionics.

Touch Bionics is the company behind the i-limb quantum prosthetic hand. The prosthetic is considered one of the more advanced, thanks to its gesture control system.

Marine was also joined by 18-year-old Madeline Stuart, a model with Down syndrome, on the catwalk Sunday.

“Finally got to meet the wonderful @madelinesmodelling_ yesterday! Big things to come for her,” Marine wrote on Instagram.
