MAIDSTONE, Sask. – RCMP say a farmer was suspicious about a crop of plants growing on his land north of Waseca, Sask. Around 3 p.m. Monday, the man came across approximately 3,150 plants that he believed were marijuana and reported it to police.

Maidstone RCMP located the plants and cut them all down on Tuesday.

Samples will be sent for testing to determine whether the plants are marijuana or hemp. RCMP say the plants will be destroyed.

Last month, a similar case involving suspicious-looking vegetation southeast of Abernathy, Sask. was investigated by RCMP. In this case, the plants turned out to be hemp.
