WINNIPEG – Emergency crews are dealing with a gas leak in the River-Osborne area.
Construction crews broke a gas line in the rear of the Winnipeg Winter Club Tuesday afternoon.
Traffic was blocked on Donald Street between River Avenue and Stradbrook Avenue, and buildings in the area were evacuated.
Hundreds of kids from a hockey camp were forced out on the street to wait until the danger passed. It wasn’t immediately clear how long it would take to shut off the gas and allow people to return to the building.
Police asked motorists to avoid the area.
