Federal Election 2015: Huron-Bruce riding results

Summary: Two journalists look to unseat two-term Conservative MP Ben Lobb in Huron-Bruce, one of southern Ontario’s largest ridings.

Boundaries: A rural riding bordering Lake Huron, the district goes as far north as Southampton, and as far south as Exeter and the outskirts of Grand Bend. The towns of Port Elgin and Goderich, each with just over 7,500 people, are the largest population centres in the riding.

Last Election: Conservative MP Ben Lobb was re-elected, defeating NDP candidate Grant Robertson by 29.6 per cent.

History: The riding was held by Liberal MP Paul Steckle from 1993 to 2008. Prior to that, the area had been held by Progressive Conservatives for several decades, with the exception of the defunct riding of Bruce, which was held by two Liberal MPs from 1968 to 1979.

Demographics: 91.1 per cent of people list English as their mother tongue, the tenth highest number in Ontario.
