Speed and alcohol suspected factors in Kelowna crash

KELOWNA — Speed, alcohol and slippery road conditions don’t mix. Police took away the driver of a crashed car in handcuffs Wednesday night, after he was suspected of driving impaired.

The man skidded his car off Postill Lake Road in Kelowna at around 8:30 p.m., with the front end of the vehicle ending up hanging over an embankment.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Fire crews say the man got out of the car without the help of emergency officials, and didn’t suffer any major injuries.

Road conditions were slick at the time of the crash and police believe speed and alcohol were likely factors.
