Saskatchewan SWAT win first league championship

ST. ALBERT, Alta. – The Saskatchewan SWAT won their first league championship on Monday. They are also the first non-Alberta team in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League to earn the title.

The team lost their first game of the tournament in St. Albert, Alta. to the Calgary Chill 6-2 but bounced back on the August long weekend.

On Aug. 1, SWAT defeated the Manitoba Blizzard 10-2 and the Red Deer Rampage 13-5 to book their ticket to the final.

The Blizzard beat out the Chill 14-9 to advance to the junior B tier 1 provincial championship.

Saskatchewan made history with a 13-8 victory over the Manitoba Blizzard Monday afternoon at the Akinsdale arena.

SWAT have two weeks to prepare back at the Kinsmen Gordie Howe Arena in Saskatoon before heading to the Max Bell Centre in Calgary to compete for the 2015 Founders’ Cup.
