INDIAN HEAD, Sask. – Saskatchewan RCMP have charged a man in connection with a homicide investigation that was launched on the August long weekend. John Strang, 48, is facing one count of first-degree murder.
On Aug. 1, Indian Head RCMP found a deceased woman in a residence. She has been identified as Lisa Strang, 47, from the McLean area. An autopsy is scheduled to take place this week in Saskatoon.
RCMP say she was in a relationship with, and living in the same residence as the accused.
Lisa Strang was a longtime employee of the Saskatchewan Party, where she served as Director of Finance for 11 years. In a message on the party’s Facebook page, Premier Brad Wall said of Strang; “She was a dedicated member of our team and to many of you she is an amazing source of information and guidance.”
Initially, police believed the victim’s death was a homicide and announced they were looking for John Strang.

The off-duty Mountie followed the vehicle until additional units arrived. Strang was taken in custody without incident at around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
According to RCMP, he was treated at hospital for minor injuries that occurred prior to his arrest.
He was scheduled to see a justice of the peace in North Battleford Monday and will be held in custody until his first appearance in Regina provincial court on Thursday.
