Missing Vaughan man located in good health in Toronto after extensive search

TORONTO — The family of a missing 33-year-old Vaughan man is thankful after he was located in good health on Wednesday.

York Regional Police said Mark Lorenzoni was located in Toronto and would be reunited with his family today.

The family told Global News that a nurse at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto had recognized the man from media reports after he was brought in as a John Doe.

Police are thanking the public for their help locating Lorenzoni, who had not been seen since Sunday.

Lorenzoni allegedly left his home for a walk on July 26 around 8 a.m. in the Major Mackenzie Drive and Islington Avenue area, according to police.

Investigators believe he may have gotten lost and was unlikely to ask for help or directions.

There was also a concern for his safety due to the hot temperatures outdoors.

Police had started a canvass of the area Tuesday afternoon and a command post had also been set up.

On Wednesday, a police drone was also deployed in the area to aid in the search efforts.
