You can call it a heated debate.
Two Florida brothers are feeling the fire after neighbours complained to the county about the excessive smoke coming from the duo’s barbecue grill.
In a viral video with 1.1 million views on YouTube since Friday, brothers Christopher and Dwayne Matt are seen being chastised by a code enforcement officer over the smoky haze created by their BBQ.
“I’m only here because of the odour, I’m only here because of the smoke,” said the environmental specialist to one of the brothers.
One neighbour emailed officials complaining, “The smoke was so strong, my eyes started burning. I started coughing and getting a headache.’
A separate complaint read, “…Christopher Matt is doing nothing more than poisoning the only air I have to breathe.”
Video footage from one resident shows the thick smoke from the BBQ as a police car pulls up.
Christopher Matt, however, said he doesn’t get what the big deal is.
“We’ve been harassed. I’m just trying to cook for my family, that’s it,” he said to NBC.
The smoke has caused trouble for the Matt brothers before, they have been cited by the Florida county and have been the centre of a lawsuit in the past.
