Shannon Elmer couldn’t wait to move into her brand new loft.
“My life was…perfect,” said Elmer. “I was snowbarding lots, I was teaching every day, being very active. This place I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.”
Shortly before she was set to move in, she sustained a life-altering injury while snowboarding at Whistler.
For two months, the active 30-year-old teacher lay paralyzed in an intensive care unit.
Her body has been slowly healing, but she isn’t ready to live independently.
Elmer is already anxious to move into her dream condo, but it needs some serious renovations to make it wheelchair accessible.
Friends have rallied around her, setting up an online fundraiser to help pay for renovations. Those interested in helping can visit their GoFundMe page.
