Man killed after being pinned under semi cab on Highway 2

WASKESIU, Sask. – A man is dead after he became trapped under a semi cab early Monday morning in Saskatchewan. The tragic accident happened on Highway 2, five kilometres south of the Waskesiu Lake junction.

Mounties were called to the scene around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a deceased person trapped underneath a semi hauling logs.

The initial investigation found the semi had become stuck in the mud. The driver and lone occupant of the semi asked for another employee to come and help get the semi out of the mud.

The pair then resumed attempts to remove the semi from the mud. Investigators say while their efforts were underway, the semi driver became pinned under the cab of the semi.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours in both directions while an investigation was carried out and the scene cleared.
